NACC PSW Practice Exam

200 questions. 150 minutes. That's the shape of the NACC/PSW exam, the national certification test Personal Support Worker students write at NACC-member career colleges across Ontario.

Neither NACC nor individual colleges publish an official passing score, confirm your specific threshold with your program rather than assuming a standard percentage applies. What is consistent: computer-based, proctored delivery at your college, four-option multiple choice throughout, and no fixed national test date, your college schedules its own sitting near the end of your program.

Content spans the full PSW curriculum, but a handful of areas show up disproportionately often:

• Scope of practice, including the DIPPS framework (Direct, Indirect, Personal, Procedural, Safety, the core boundaries defining what a PSW can and cannot do)
• Infection prevention and control (IPAC)
• Vital signs and medical terminology
• Medication rights and assistance
• Dementia and mental health care

Beyond those high-frequency areas, the exam also covers personal care assistance, palliative and end-of-life care, nutrition and hydration, and family and community care, the full breadth of what the role requires day to day.

You get three attempts within the program. That's a real cushion compared to some certification exams, but each attempt still costs time you'd rather spend starting your career. Treat your first sitting like the one that counts.

Given how frequently scope of practice, IPAC, vital signs, and medication safety show up, those four areas deserve extra review time relative to the rest of the curriculum, the other topics matter too, they're simply where the exam concentrates fewer questions.
